Catechisms-part 2

Ok, So I have been trying for the last few days to upload this cute video of Hannah reciting her catechisms. They are taken out of the book "Teaching Truths, Training Hearts..." BY: Tom Nettles. (chapter 5)...BUT it wont work. I am trying...so stay tuned. In the mean time
I highly recommend this book to those of you with younger children. Not only will it teach them basics about the Christian Faith, but they will love it too. Hannah loves it, and I know that she is proud of what she knows. It has also opened the door for some wonderful conversations with her on what we (Dan and I) believe in. It never ceases to amaze me what she understands...or what she doesn't. Even Sunday night as we were taking the Lord's Supper, she was asking me all kinds of questions ranging from why a cracker to is Justin going to have some. I just love it! I was able to explain to her each step. She is also paying more attention to the service now, and less to her toys. This makes it easier to help her understand what a service is and why we go to church.

We can also make sure that she is being taught exactly what we believe and
after all, isn't that our jobs as parents? What better way to share the Gospel, than by teaching it to your child in a fun way!! It is SO important that we be taking care of their souls by continuously pointing them to the cross and Salvation on a daily basis. There are other chapters in the book for older children...should you have older children, or just want to learn the truth yourself. We highly recommend it!!

Enjoy!

Christmas at Home.

I only have a few pictures from our Christmas here. My battery went dead as we were trying to take the 5th or 6th picture. O well. You can still see how excited Hannah was to open her "Birthday" presents. It is cute that she calls them Birthday presents. Maybe she got the real reason for the day...I guess we'll find out next year.

All her presents from her great grandparents came in Dora paper. Lets just say that the paper was a HUGE hit!! That and the home made tags they had made. She took all the tags off the presents and we had to guess who each one was for. Kinda spiced it up for me and Dan...

Hannah is madly in love with dark chocolate peanut m&m's. So when she took these plain ones out of her stocking she exclaimed "Dark Chocolate!! My favorite".

A woman after my own heart!!

Quote of the day

"Your Medium-err Momma"

-Hannah.

This is how Hannah described my spankings compared to Dan's. It was pretty funny to hear her say medium-err. With her silly southern accent.

Trip home-part 3

On my Mom's side of the family this year, we did Christmas a little different. We went out to eat at Bucca de Peppo for dinner, then we went on a carriage ride on the Plaza!

Our Horse's name was Magnus. I can only remember that because of the movie Zoolander. One of his facial expressions is Magnum...Don't ask. It just worked...

This is the Hotel Dan and I stayed in on our Honeymoon. I know it is a bad picture, but it is kinda hard to hold the camera still and take pictures while riding in a carriage.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to all of you out there.

I am doing absolutely nothing tonight!! Whoo Hooo. Actually it is nice. I have done some cleaning and caught up on some e-mails.
I even came up with a New Year Resolution!! I am going to do better about sending out real snail mail cards. Esp on Birthdays...SO, if you want a card (or something else) please e-mail me with your Birthday and current address. If I already know it (ie: your a relative) you don't need to!! I think I can remember it from the past 10 plus years... Have a Great evening!!

My Laundry is done so I have to go now.

Trip-part 2

Our trip home included tons of crazy weather!! On the Saturday we pulled in, we encountered a huge ice storm. We couldn't go anywhere for a few days. Then when the ice finally melted, we had maybe 3 days of very cold windy days...then woke up one morning to a ton of snow! This was Hannah's first snow experience this year(and maybe last...). It was pretty nice here today. Anyway, Hannah LOVED the snow and was SO excited to "throw" snowballs at me. Keep in mind that she has NO athletic abilities at all, so the snowballs only went a few inches!

Trip-part 1

Here are a few pictures from our trip home 2 weeks ago. They are in no particular order. We had a blast and I believe it will be pretty obvious by some of the pictures.

This picture is of my Sister holding a cake. My Mom had meant the cake mix to be for my Birthday...but while she was at work my sister made it and then ate it. So...this is what the cake looked like by the time I arrived at my Mom's house.

It was good though!

This is Hannah and her cousin Max with their Great-Grandma Marion. She took us to Mimi's Cafe for my Birthday lunch.

Here we are at my Mom's house making smores!! They were very good, and as you can tell, Hannah had the time of her life.

Mommy doesn't let her play with fire...

Yikes!!

Tiger

Did you all hear about that Siberian Tiger at the San Francisco Zoo who killed that boy?? Yikes. I think we can ALL learn some lessons from this.

1-DO NOT climb into the Tiger cage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2-Don't watch world news with your 3 1/2 year old...!!

Happy almost New Year. Stay tuned for my Christmas pictures and pictures from our trip home!

Mars

How many of you have seen Mars this week?

We did! It doesn't really look any different than a jumbo star, but still, it is pretty cool to say you've seen another planet!!

Fire Fighters to the Rescue!!

Hey all,
I am still at home. Sorry it has been so long since I posted something!! We are having tons of fun. There is a lot of snow here that we have been playing in.
I have a classic story here for you. Try to beat this one!
I left Hannah with my Mom Friday evening and went out with my Sisters, Cousin and Best Friend. On the way to the restaurant my Mom calls to let me know that there has been some "excitement, but Hannah is ok" Yikes!! Aparrently she was sitting on her knees on a kitchen chair while my Mom was making her noodles. She was pretty squirmy and got her leg stuck in the rails on the back of the chair. My Mom couldn't get her out, so she called her neighbor and a friend around the corner, but neither were home. So she called the Fire Department to come and help her!!!!!!!! I guess they had to twist the rail on the chair sideways to get Hannah out!!!! Needless to say, Hannah was SO excited that the Fire Fighters got to come to Nana's house.
It makes for a great story huh? O, and her leg is fine.

Miss you all.

Video

Here is the actual video of Dan walking across the stage. I figure a video is better than a picture that wasn't very good.

Enjoy!

Dan's Graduation

This morning Dan Graduated from Seminary!! Yeah, I am SO SO proud of him. His mom and 2 sisters and nephew came to share in the excitement as well.

Here we are waiting for the Graduation to start. We had to get there about an hour and 20 min. early to get a seat in the main chapel. We didn't want to sit in an over-flow room.

This is pretty blurry, but Dan is the 3rd from the left. (in the blue shirt).

Dan is the middle row, third hat from top. (blue shirt!).

Congratulations Dan!!
-now we are onto the PhD-

God is Good

GOD has been So faithful to us this year. I am currently doing laundry in our "new to us" washer and dryer!!! I hadn't even given it much thought as to what we were going to do long term, as I am trying to get everything ready for our relatives tomorrow and then our trip on Saturday, and then some friends just gave us their old ones!! Dan picked them up this morning.
Hannah and I had so much fun at the laundry matt last week. She really enjoyed putting the quarters in and watching the dryer spin all the clothes. It was fun to try and figure out what each piece of clothing was...at least to her!! lol.

Praise GOD for our new washer and dryer!!
