Jicama time!

So, I am signed up for these weekly updates on Calvin's growth and whatnot. This week, they say he is the size of a large Jicama. Hmmm...whats that you ask? (me too).

According to the research I have just done, it is a vegetable also known as a Mexican Turnip, yam bean, or Mexican Potato. Also, parts of it are poisonous. So, be very careful if you should try it. Only eat the parts that are safe for you!!!!! I'll let you guys do more research if you want...But I thought I would introduce you to the Jicama since Calvin is that size this week:)

Yeah!! Hannah finally got her Dora Crocs today.

Ok, so I was in the Party Store across the street checking out prices for Hannah's BD party. I figure we need to get the ball rolling on that asap, seeing as Calvin is coming in 8 weeks! And the lady asked point blank when I walked in if I was due tomorrow! I just laughed and said no, than proceeded to changed the subject to balloons. I was able to find a "4" candle for 25 cents there, and as I was paying she asked me if I was sure I wasn't having twins. I know I am a little bigger than normal, but seriously people!!! Twins. I can't believe the nerve of some people, they have NO tack what so ever. Did she think that after she insulted me I was going to drop $15 on balloons there for my child? Hmmm....
I guess I should stick a picture on myself on here for you out of towners, and see what you think! Some of you haven't seen me since Christmas.

Sweet 16

Today in the car Hannah made us a deal, and actually shook on it! Not that she knows what she was doing, but it was pretty cute anyway. The deal was that all she was going to get for her 16th Birthday was $100. We just have to laugh at this based on the conversation we were having with her. We have promised her the mustang when she gets old enough to drive...which we all know is kinda a joke...(except for her). Like it will still be around in 13 years. Anyway Dan and I were "discussing" if she was really going to get a car or not, which was a conversation based the previous conversation of what we were going to do this year for her Birthday, and out of the blue she asked us for $100 for her Birthday. Dan was like "for your 16th Birthday?" and she said yes, So we asked her if she was serious, and then if we could shake on it and she said yes...than Dan told her that was great thing. Then she asked for $1 for her Birthday...and he asked her if he could give her $1 right now for her Birthday this year and that would be it for ever and ever. She said "OK!!!!". It was SO funny b/c she has NO clue what dollar amounts mean. She just wanted a dollar right then! But don't worry, we will still get her Birthday presents. We aren't that mean!!!!
(I hope this isn't too confusing to read...and is as funny to you as it was to us!) ....and if it isn't, than I am sorry. Just call me:)
Also, she told me the other day that she was excited to go to Kindergarten in a few years b/c she was going to get to drive there all by herself!!! I think she may have an obsession with driving! It was so funny. Can you imagine Kindergartner's driving? lol.

Maked Mo

Here is a funny transcript Hannah and I had yesterday!

Hannah - Do you think Little Mo is going to be yellow or creamy beige?

Me - He will be creamy beige like you and Daddy and me. But when he comes out he might be more pinkish with some crud on him. But the Dr. will clean him up and then we can put his new clothes on him. Won't that be fun?

Hannah - Will he be "maked" when he comes out?

Me - Yes. He is maked in my tummy right now!

Hannah - (laughing hysterically) really? He doesn't have any clothes on!! (more laughter). What about a diaper?

me - nope. He isn't wearing anything!

Even today at lunch she was still laughing at the thought of him in my tummy without any clothes on. It is SO cute what she comes up with. I guess it never occurred to us that she didn't realize he was maked.

31 weeks

Hey all,
I went to my Dr. Apt this morning. I have gained 25 lbs total, which is great! At this point with Hannah I had gained 24lbs. SO I was excited. I am measuring 34 weeks(!), so He is definitely going to be a big baby. I was telling her that the lady at Wal-mart thought I was having twins, and she said that my tummy was an "impressive size." My Dr. said she'd like to induce a little early and we tossed around some dates. So, if you could keep us in your prayers as we decide what is going to be best for Calvin and my body, we'd really appreciate it. She is going to do an ultra sound at 38 weeks that will be able to tell us exactly how big he is at that time.

Random Comments

So, These random comments on my rather large tummy are getting better each day!! Today I was paying (a whole 1.25$) for my new tire, and here is what the lady says to me(!!!)

Lady-Are you having a boy or girl?
Me- Boy
Lady-When are you due? Next week?
Me-(laughing...) No, June 23rd.
Lady-WOW!! Are you like having twins or something?
Me-No (fake laughing at this point!)

Yikes! Huh? Definitely a first...
My next appointment is Tuesday, so I will let you know how it goes! I will be 31 weeks tomorrow. It is pretty exciting, the end is in sight.

Spring time

Happy Rainy Day!

Earth Quake!!

Did you guys feel the Earth Quake this morning?(540am)
We did!! It woke us up, and we were like what is happening! We were shaking and there was this unexplainable low rumble noise. By the time we woke up there was only about 30 seconds left of it. Dan was like I bet that was an Earth Quake! So he turned on the TV, and sure enough it was. It was a 5.2. Crazy.
We lived through an Earth Quake!!!!! Let me tell you, it is the oddest feeling to wake up shaking!

Our Zoo

As I mentioned last week, we also went to our Zoo with Dan while he was on vacation. Here are the photos from that. It was a VERY nice day!! We went yesterday and it was beautiful as well. I will down load the pictures from that as soon as I take a few for Dan. (he sells books, and needs them photographed...)

This is the best shot of our Tiger that day. I think Dan spent 10 min trying to get a good shot. He (the Tiger) was SO close to us and kept walking right by! The Zoo is currently remodeling the Tiger area so they are in this little cage and are really close to you while you look at them.

Dan and Hannah got to pet this baby Kangaroo. I think he got stuck here and his Mom wouldn't come rescue him. I bet she was afraid, b/c all of the other Kangaroo's were really far back off the trail!

Columbus Zoo

Wow...where has the time gone? I am just now down loading pictures...yikes. Sorry to have kept you waiting! Here are the pictures from the Columbus Zoo. This was a huge zoo and had a lot of amazing exhibits. We were pretty impressed. Some of the animals were gone due to the winter, and the day we went was pretty cold. But we still enjoyed it and had a lot of fun!

Calvin

I've been asked by several people to post something on our "needs" for Calvin. There aren't many as we have been very blessed already. We are currently saving money to buy him a pack-n-play, and we will need to purchase a bigger dresser for him and Hannah. I am also registered at Baby's-R-Us. (to get my free gift card, so I will look and maybe add a few things now that everyone will know) I am pretty sure that diapers should go on the list too. And that should be about it. I "think" I have everything else. My sister is bringing the car seat Friday!!!! I also have enough clothes to keep him (and possible 3 other boys!) dressed through January.

Thank you for blessing us so far! He is doing well. He loves to kick all the time now, which I like too. I have had 2 women (this week) tell me that they think he's dropped!! Not what I would like to hear at this point...but I am sure that they meant well:) lol.

Movies

Are you missing my daily blogs? We have been really busy this week b/c Dan is on vacation from work. Today is his last day. I am so sad. We have had a lot of fun.
We have seen 2 movies, which I'd like to comment on. The first was Zodiac. It was VERY good. I highly recommend it. It is about a serial killer back in the 60's and 70's. It can be found at your local Red Box. We both enjoyed it. The second one was Jane Austin Book Club. It was Horrible!!!!! Do not waste your dollar on it!
We went to the zoo yesterday. And had a blast. ALL the animals were out and playing. Dan and Hannah got to pet a baby kangeroo! I was taping/taking pictures. We also got lots of sun. Dan played tennis last night, and I had Bible study.
Today we went to the park. Hope you are all enjoying this nice weather. Someone told me that it is supposed to snow Monday!!
Pictures are coming I promise. We just keep doing fun stuff so I am waiting to download them all at once!

Monkey PJ's

We had a nice time on our vacation! It was very nice to get to spend some quality time just the 3 of us. It was cold and rainy...but still a lot of fun. It is also nice to be back home. We are supposed to have nice weather today so hopefully we can get outside. I will download the pictures from our trip soon. Here is a picture of Hannah in her new monkey pj's.

More Updates

Saturday Hannah and I participated in a local clean-up day with our church. The community had given us a couple block radius around the church and we split up into teams and went and picked up the trash. It was actually a lot of fun. Hannah really enjoyed it and is eagerly looking forward to the next one! She keeps asking when we can go on another trash hunt...I think that is a result of last weeks egg hunt. lol. I even won a t-shirt in the raffle. It doesn't fit right now, but should after the baby is born. It was like 30 degrees that day as you can tell, we are bundled!

I had a dr. apt this morning. I have gained 6 lbs in the past 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP! She said it was ok, but to not let it be a habit of gaining that much each time. yikes.
She gave me this packet of info for the actual delivery. We can take Hannah to this 1 hour class if we want. It is designed for big sister/brothers. She said they talk to them about what to do and not do(like pick up the baby when mommy isn't looking...ect) They even take them on a tour and show them where the baby will be born and where mommy will be when they finally get to come see the baby. Sounds neat, and it is only $10.

We had to get our van fixed again yesterday!! This is a sad and yet funny story all at the same time....at least to me(Dan would disagree). A chipmunk crawled up into the engine and ate up all the wiring!!! It cost us over $600 to have it fixed...that is the sad part. There went our vacation money, there went our new couch money, there went the pack-n-play money and pretty much everything else!! lol. But it is fixed now! They told us not to park it in the same place b/c those kinds of animals will return to the same place and do it again. It is in their animal nature. I guess this is a common problem(who knew chipmunks liked car wires so much?) But anyway...there is really no place to park our van or the mustang really, that an animal can't get to here. So we have our cars parked by the front office for now. But I guessing that will last a week! BUT-the walk there may help me burn some fat!!!! So maybe it is a good thing!
Anyway...you can pray that Dan NEVER meets a chipmunk! I think he is pretty much ready to kill every little creature he ever sees again. Rightly so. Poor guy. He is NOT happy about this!!

Tomorrow is our vacation! We are pretty excited. I am going to help Hannah pack her clothes when she gets done resting.
