My neighbor from China sent over a cup of what she called Chinese milk. It was amazing, so I asked a girlfriend from church what it was (as my neighbor doesn't speak English...) and she said it was Bubble tea. It tastes like Chai tea only with out the milk, for those of you who like Chai tea. Here is a recipe I found for it. The little "pearls" at the bottom weren't any good...so I don't recommend them! They are starch inside of a pearl-like ball. In my research for the recipe I noticed that this is the latest rage (in the drink world) in Asia. Minus the pearl I thought it was VERY good!
Mix:
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups water
Approximately 32-35 sixteen ounce servings
- Mix sugar and water in a large pot.
- Cook at medium to high heat.
- Once the mixture boils remove from stove immediately.
- Let cool and serve.*Refrigerate any excess

boba was all the rage when we were in college :o)
the little pearl things are a tapioca variant i think... i guess you just get used to them, because i can remember not liking them at first.
fun that you found a recipe!
I'm thrilled for this recipe.
We LOVE LOVE LOVE BOBA TEA and the bobas... but just the tapioca balls, not the colorful juicy ones if you ever see those - gross (like chalk). I'm with Alicia, they can grow on you big time!
Dustin and I have actually been known to plan trips around boba places since they are hard to find here.
We have found ONE place in Louisville that SOMETIMES serves Boba Tea...
Enjoy!!

This intrigued me so I had to look up more info...
There's a new Bubble Tea place on Bardstown. Dustin and I went there on Date Night! Yippee!
